Employment, Education and Training Opportunities for Young Adults, Ages 16-24
KEY SERVICES:
- Paid Work-Based Learning Opportunities
- Referral to Alternative Education and GED
- Financial Assistance for Training and GED
- Incentives for Reaching Goals
- Individualized Career Planning and Guidance
- Transportation Assistance
- Childcare Assistance
- Financial Assistance for Uniforms, Classrom Materials and Supplies.
Age 16 to 24 and
One or more of the following:
- A school dropout
- An individual who is within the age of compulsory school attendance, but has not attended school for at least the most recent complete school year calendar quarter
- An individual who is subject to the juvenile or adult justice system
- A homeless individual (as defined in section 41403(6) of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (42 U.S.C. 14043-2(6))), a homeless child or youth (as defined in section 725(2) of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 1143a(2))), a runaway, in foster care, or has aged out of the foster care system, a child eligible for assistance under section 477 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 677), or in an out-of-home placement.
- An individual who is pregnant or parenting
- A youth who is an individual with a disability
- A recipient of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent who is a low-income individual and is- Basic skills deficient; or an English language learner*
- A low-income individual who requires additional assistance to enter or complete an educational program or to secure or hold employment: *
- Below average grades
- Poor attendance
- No vocational/employment goal
- Poor work history
- Been fired from a job
- Learning/physical disability
- No specific occupational training
*Must be Low-Income. Income and Family size documentation are required.
