Recently, Southeast KANSASWORKS hosted “Lunch and Learn” informational sessions in Coffeyville, Iola, Pittsburg and BETO Junction with businesses from both Lyon and Coffey counties. More than 100 area businesses were in attendance to learn more about Registered Apprenticeship opportunities. Business leaders received ways to utilize the expanding definition of apprenticeships in their workforce. Apprenticeships enable their employees to obtain relevant skills with wage progression while offering the business another retention tool. Apprenticeships provide paid, relevant workplace experiences and opportunities to develop skills that employers value. Additionally, they provide affordable paths to good jobs and, ultimately, careers. These sessions were held in partnership with the Kansas Department of Commerce and facilitated by Chastity Troxel, Program Coordinator from the Registered Apprenticeship office.
