“Emporia Strongest” Job Fair Supports Local Workforce Recovery

In the face of recent layoffs and business closures across Lyon County and the surrounding region, the Emporia community came together to prove its resilience at the “Emporia Strongest” Job Fair on July 23, 2025.

Hosted by KANSASWORKS Southeast Emporia Workforce Center in proud partnership with Emporia Spanish Speakers, the event was designed to provide immediate support to those impacted by workforce reductions — as well as to connect all job seekers with meaningful employment opportunities. This marked the third event in a special trilogy of targeted hiring events aimed at bolstering the regional workforce.

The job fair welcomed approximately 75 community members through the doors of the Emporia Workforce Center, where they met face-to-face with local and regional employers ready to hire. Attendees explored opportunities across multiple industries and skill levels while also accessing on-site support for résumés, interview coaching, and career planning. Thanks to our partners at Emporia Spanish Speakers, live Spanish interpretation ensured equitable access for all participants.

The energy in the room was undeniable as job seekers, career changers, and employers connected to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take concrete steps toward new career paths.

Southeast KANSASWORKS extends sincere gratitude to the businesses, partners, and community members who contributed to the success of the event. Together, we are strengthening our local workforce — one connection at a time.
