First, let’s answer the question, “What is Workforce Development?” Did you know that Workforce Development is the largest “employment agency” in the country, providing FREE services to both job seekers and business? It is an interconnected set of solutions to meet employment needs:
-
- Prepares workers with needed skills
- Emphasizes the value of workplace learning
- Identifies the hiring demands of employers
- Provides job placement services
The goal is to place workers in jobs where there are career development opportunities that fill the skills needed by local employers.
Workforce Development is a highly regulated industry and is funded through a variety of federal, regional, and local programs and grants.
Workforce Development Professionals work with employers (Business Services Team) to identify employment opportunities along with the skills needed to successfully perform the required tasks. As skills are identified, the Business Services Team coordinates with the Career Services Team to provide job seeker training and design On the Job Training (OJT) programs with their employers to ensure employment candidates are well qualified for their job placements.
The Career Services Team works with job candidates to assess their skills, aptitudes, and interests along with guidance in creating resumes, cover letters, and submitting job applications. Training programs for job seekers are developed and delivered while working with both entry level and high skilled, long term experienced workers who have been displaced by our rapidly changing economy.
We are a highly trained team of professionals, motivated to make a difference in our community, in people’s lives, and in our own professional development. Won’t you join us?
